8 fined GH¢ 360 each for insanitary practice

The Abeka Sanitation and Motor Court has imposed a fine of GH¢ 360 each or in default three months’ imprisonment with hard labour for improper disposal of refuse at unauthorised places at Okaishie and its environs in the Ashiedu Keteku Sub-Metro, in Accra.
Three other accused, who pleaded not guilty, were granted bail of GH¢ 1,000 each with one surety and would re-appear on December 7, 2017.
The accused were Eneka Dokyi, Ebuka Nnora, Matthew Akrofi, Kofi Asare, Robert Goliete, Samuel Odoi, Ishmael Louis, Baba Idrisu, Kwame Akoto, Kwamena Afeleteh and Yaw Tsre.
Miss Delight Dzansi, the prosecutor, said all the accused were arrested on November 27 and 28, this year, by the Ashiedu Keteku Sub-Metro Sanitation Taskforce.
She said the accused were arrested around the Ghana Commercial Bank Makola branch, Railways, Okaishie, Pasico around Korle Lagoon, and GNTC for causing unsightly and unhygienic sight in the areas.
The court cautioned citizens to desist from acts of indiscipline and cultivate the habit of keeping their environment clean. – GNA
