The sixth edition of the Lands Commission annual fun games was held at the Nicholson Park at Burma Camp on Friday, with Survey and Mapping Department emerging as the overall winners.
Four departments of the Commission, namely the Land Valuation Board, Land Title Registry, the Survey and Mapping Department and the Lands Commission competed in football, athletics, tug of war, sack race and lime and spoon race.
Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, Dr. Winfred K. Odamey, said the event was part of their new corporate identity which began in 2010.
He added that, the event was aimed at creating the platform once a year to bring staff together from the bigger and broader Commission which now exists.
According to him, prior to 2008, all the departments were independent but were brought together by the Lands Commission Act 767.
“The event was thus initiated to create the platform periodically to deepen the integration alongside other programmes,” he stated.
The theme for the event he said was “work hard, play soft, Land Commission wins,” and the staff he added did well to ensure a very successful event.
At the end, trophies were presented to winners of the various disciplines alongside an undisclosed amount.
