62-year old man gunned down at Alavanyo

Efforts to restore peace in the Alavanyo-Nkonya conflict area have suffered another setback with the shooting of a 62-year old man at Alavanyo on Sunday.

Unidentified gunmen attacked a house at Alavanyo-Agorme on Sunday and opened fire on the 62-year-old, Amankrado Nana Stephen.

He sustained pellet wounds in his left arm and was rushed to the Margaret Marquat Hospital in Kpando by some relatives and neighbours.

The police have visited the victim and said that he was receiving treatment.

A spokesman of the Volta Regional Police headquarters told the Ghanaian Times in Ho yesterday that a search for the assailants was underway.

The latest shooting incident came at a time the Volta Regional Coordinating Council was set to organise counseling services for victims of earlier clashes in the area to prevent reprisal attacks.

This was when the many thought peace was returning to the area.
