ONE more of the seven suspected armed robbers who escaped from custody at the Denu Police Station last month, has been found and picked up by the police, bringing to five, the number of the fugitives so far arrested.
Edem Gomela, 22, was nabbed in a thatched mud-house in the village of Nandene, near Denu, at about 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
A police spokesman who disclosed this to The Ghanaian Times on phone yesterday, said that following a tip-off, the Volta Regional Police Operations Team and personnel from the Aflao Police Command were mobilised and dispatched to the village.
On reaching the village that night, the spokesman said, the team searched every room in the village, during which the suspect was found in one of the rooms.
The spokesman said nothing was found in the suspect’s possession at the time of the arrest.
During interrogation, Gomela was said to have told the police that after the escape from the Denu Police Station, he went to Togo to spend some time before returning to Ghana.
The spokesman said that, it has also been confirmed that the remaining two fugitives are Nigerians.
Gomela would soon be arraingned before the Aflao Circuit Court, the spokesman told The Ghanaian Times.
