5 remanded in gang rape case

Five of the six men who defiled a 15-year-old Junior High School pupil in turns in a classroom at Ehi, near Dzodze, and filmed the sex act were on Monday remanded in custody by an Aflao Circuit Court.

All the six pleaded not guilty to a charge of defilement, and the court, presided over by Mr. Ali Baba Abature, remanded five of them in prison custody while Joshua Kpeli alias Stigma was granted bail in the sum of GH¢2,000 to be deposited upfront with the court.

They are to reappear on February 8.

They are Julius Donkor, alias Kapaya, 21; Paul Agumazor, alias Paulzor, 22 and Innocent Alevi, alias Clerk, 19; Francis Sabla alias China, 19 and Miwoekpor Agbenyagah, alias Agbey, 20.

The court heard that the accused persons and the victim were all residents of Ehi.

Inspector Martin Egyir who presented the facts, said that the six men trailed the girl who was returning home from a funeral at the suburb of Higa, and at one stage Kpeli deviously offered to escort her home because it was late in the night and the unsuspecting girl accepted his offer.

Unknown to the girl, Kpeli had already signaled the other accused persons to follow them.

The prosecution stated said that on reaching the Caledzi ‘C’ School the accused dragged the helpless girl into a classroom and forced her to lie in a supine position on one of the desk before they took turns to have sex with her.

While the girl was going through the ordeal, Agumazor at a point used his cellular phone to record the act, the court was further told.
