A fifth suspect,Twumasi Bright, who has been receiving the stolen items including mobile phones and bags is also in police custody.

The suspects were said to have attacked passengers who arrived from Cape Coast and Takoradi to Accra at midnight with cutlasses.

According to the police, the suspects had some time ago, been arrested for the same act but a court discharged them because the victims failed to show up to testify

Briefing The Ghanaian Times, the Kaneshie District Police Commander, and Chief Superintendent Fleance Sedam Adikah said his outfit had received several complaints from passengers and community members that the suspects had been attacking and collecting their personal belongings.

“These suspects have been terrorising people around the Kaneshie-Takoradi Station area. What they do is that as soon as they see a bus has arrived, they monitor, follow and attack the passengers who alighted on their way home,” he said.

He said the suspects normally take away passengers’ belongings such as money, bags, phones, laptops and sold them to their customers.

Chief Supt Adikah said with the aid of an informant, the suspects were arrested on September 12, at about 2am at their hideout at Pokuase, near Accra.
