Mrs. Kwabia said that her outfit had targetted seven communities in the metropolis that are prone to child abandonment, to be educated on the menace to avoid such inhuman practice.

Mrs. Benedicta Seidu, Western Regional Girls Education Co-ordinator, urged parents to be more responsible and inculcate discipline among their children to desist from pre-marital sex, to avoid unwanted pregnancies and child abandonment.

She appealed to parents to discourage intimate relationships between the opposite sex among children and avoid neglecting pregnant girls.

Mrs. Faustina Yorke Awotwe, Western Regional Director of the Department of Children, said that the region ranked second in teenage pregnancies as reported by the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey of Ghana, (2011). GNA
