Four people died, while 13 others sustained severe injuries in a motor accident at Apietu, near Shun in the Eastern Region, on Sunday.
The bodies of the dead have been deposited at the mortuary of the Suhum Government Hospital, the injured have been admitted at the same hospital and responding to treatment.
Confirming the accident to The Ghanaian Times, the Suhum Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Yahaya Muchiraru said the accident occurred when one of the back tyres of a Land Cruiser, with registration number AS 2389-13, travelling from Kumasi to Accra, bust and the vehicle veered off the road although by the driver tried to control the steering wheel. It crashed into a Sprinter bus, with registration number GW 9270-Z which was also travelling from Accra to Kumasi.
Supt. Muchiraru appealed to all drivers to drive at a minimum speed in order to avoid such accidents.
