THREE men have been put before an Accra circuit court for stealing money and other items from a Chinese businessman, Zhu Runguang , money and other items at Mamprobi-Bamboi, a suburb of Accra.

They are Collins Opoku Manu, 21, a securityman of the complainant, Eugene Allon Nyame, 19, unemployed and a former securityman of the complainant and Michael Opoku, 32, air condition technician and the former driver of the complainant.

They were charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, stealing and causing unlawful damage to which they pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Hamidu B. Musah said on July 2018, the complainant had to travel at short notice to Kumasi.

He said during the night Manu conspired with Nyame, Opoku and two others identified only as Michael and Naiga (at large) to break into the apartment of the complainant through the window and stole several items.

Chief Inspector Musah said they made away with two laptops and a security box containing cash $40,000 and GH¢30, 00.00, after Manu locked the security dogs in the house.

C/Insp Musah said the accused persons after the act set the apartment ablaze but the Korle Bu branch of the Ghana National Service put off the fire.

However, certain items, including a  32-inch flat screen television , room decorations, company documents, personal documents, phones, security box containing foreign and local currencies, a photocopier, a printer, ceiling fan, water heater, water closet, wardrobe with assorted clothing, bags, reading table and chair, CCTV recorder and a roof of the apartment among others were destroyed.

He said intelligence reports received by the police led to the arrest of the accused persons from their hideout in Accra and Offinso in the Ashanti Region.

C/Insp Musah, said items retrieved include $6000 and GH¢500 from Manu, $7,600, GH¢11, 200.00 from Nyame and $8000 , GH¢1,212.00 as well as a 40-inch smart flat screen TV with Kwese decoder, were retrieved from Opoku.
