34 suspects remanded over Capt Mahama’s murder

A total of thirty-four persons suspected to have played roles in the murder of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama, were yesterday remanded into police custody by Accra Central District court 3.

They included six women, two of whom are nursing mothers, the suspects were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder.

They would be re-arraigned on Wednesday, June 21, 2017.

Prosecutor, George Amegah, told the court that the prosecution would need more time to complete investigations.

The court, presided over by Justice Ebenezer Kweku Ansah, therefore, adjourned the case to June 21.

This brings to 42 the number of suspects who have been remanded so far.

Some irate crowd who thronged the Accra Courts Complex in rage, tried to break through security to grab the suspects and beat them up.

On Monday, May 29, the deceased, Captain Mahama, an officer of the 5th Infantry Battalion, was beaten to death and  part of his body set on fire by residents of Denkyira -Obuasi in the Central Region, based on suspicion that he was an armed robber.

The family of the late military captain has announced Friday, June 9, 2017 for his burial.
