A total of 30 suspected criminals, including 25 foreigners, have been arrested in a police swoop at Pokuase in the Ga West Municipality, on Monday.

The operation, which was part of measures by the Amasaman Divisional Police Command to clamp down on criminal activities, was led by the Pokuase District Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) John Nuertey.

The suspects, who included a woman, between the ages of 18 and 34, were in the custody of the Police assisting in investigations, the Amasaman Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent (Chief Supt) Francis Yiribaare, disclosed to the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday.

“The suspects are in custody pending further investigations into their suspected involvement in armed robberies and land violence,” he added

Chief Supt Yiribaare said the exercise was conducted at hideouts of the suspected criminals at Amanfrom, a suburb of Pokuase, where 24 Nigerian men, who were hiding in the ceiling of their rooms were apprehended by the police.

He said a search in their rooms revealed 36 laptop computers, 29 mobile phones, wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, tramadol capsules, alcoholic drink laced with Indian hemp and Nigerian passports.
