3 top Health Officials interdicted

Some officials of the Ministry of Health (MoF) have been interdicted in connection with last week’s fire disaster which destroyed the Central Medical Stores at Tema.

They include Dr. Samuel Boateng, Director of Procurement and Supply, Dr. Kwesi Addai Donkor, Director, Supply, Stores and Drug Management, Ghana Health Service, and Abdul Karim Iddrisu, Head of Stores at the Central Medical Stores.

Tony Goodman, the Public Relations Officer of the Health Ministry, confirmed this to The Ghanaian Times yesterday.

However, Dr. Boateng told The Ghanaian Times yesterday afternoon that he had not received any communication about any interdiction.

Investigations, by National Security, took off soon after the fire ravaged the stores, destroying medical supplies and equipment worth over GH¢230 million.

President Mahama visited the Stores, asked the investigative team to speed up the process to ascertain whether it was caused by arsonists or through negligence.
