Three students and a welder have been arrested by the Accra Regional Police Command for allegedly snatching vehicles from their victims.
They are, Osman Sulleymana, 24, welder, David Agyeman, 21, Jeffery Amoah, 20, and Manford Kyei, 20, all students.
Mohammed Abdulai, a 31-year-old businessman who bought a stolen car from the suspects, was also in police custody.
Briefing the media in Accra, Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Paul Ayittey, said on November 12, Kyei expressed interest in a Hyundai Elantra salon vehicle being offered for sale by the owner.
ACP Ayittey said both parties arranged to meet at the victim’s house, after Kyei had inspected the vehicle and lured the victim to a mechanic shop at Nungua Barrier for a second opinion about the condition of the vehicle.
ACP Ayittey said at the fitting shop, two young men dressed like mechanics approached the victim, and in the process of testing the car, sped off.
He said the victim raised an alarm and with the support of residents, Sulleymana was arrested.
ACP Ayittey said during interrogation Sulleymana admitted the offence and led police to arrest the other suspects.
The Deputy Regional Police Commander said the police had retrieved three vehicles from the suspects.
