Three institutions on Thursday made presentations totalling GH₵ 50,000 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) towards their forthcoming 2018 awards night  scheduled for October 27, 2018, at Kempinski Hotel in Accra.

The donors, Kosmos Energy, Stanbic Bank and Okurufi Communication Consult and Studio 502, presented GH₵20,000, GH ₵15,000 and GH₵15,000 respectively to the association as part of their support to the success of the event.

GJA President, Roland Affail Monney, thanked the donors for partnering with them over the years, and for being consistent affiliate to the growth of the association.

He said as an association, they have always strived to work on their flaws every year to make the awards better and they would continue to do same this year.

The president noted that the best way to improve the standard of journalism in the country was to award deserving journalists to motivate them, while it inspired others to work hard.

Mr Monney said there were lots of categories to be awarded, and therefore called on corporate bodies to come on board and adopt any of the categories.

Mr Amos William Abaidoo, Manager of Digital Marketing at Stanbic Bank Ghana, said contribution to the award scheme was to motivate journalists to pursue excellence in their work.

He said the bank had been a traditional sponsor, and would continue to support the progress of the media any time there was the need.

Mr George Sarpong , Director of Corporate Affairs at Kosmos Energy, said the  sponsorship was to show commitment to media excellence in Ghana, and expressed the hope that the gesture would promote media relations in Ghana.

Madam Araba Brown, Project Coordinator at Okurufi Communication Consult, said her company was proud to make a difference in the Best Reporter in Poultry Farming (egg consumption category).
