The Brong Ahafo Regional Police has started investigations into alleged embezzlement of GH¢369,327 by three staff of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA).
The three are Ransford Adu Bosompra, Brong Ahafo Regional Accountant of the Authority, Amidu Adams, 59, Supervisor of the Fiapre toll-booth on the Sunyani-Berekum highway, and Michael Bediako, 61, former Supervisor of the Bechem toll-booth on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway.
The Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Maama Arhin, who confirmed the story to The Ghanaian Times, said the Chief Investigator of the GHA, Victor Vorsah, uncovered the financial embezzlement.
According to the Regional Crime Officer, the investigator was able to detect fake pay-in-slips amounting to GH¢369,327 purported to have been paid into the Road Fund.
Supt. Arhin said investigations, revealed that the suspects were producing their own pay-in-slips and stamps of their bankers and they were arrested by the Police in April this year and granted police enquiry bail.
Supt. Arhin said the three admitted the offence and wanted to refund the embezzled money.
