3 fake officials , 4 ‘soldiers’ arrested

JOHN  KUDALOR,   IGPThree people have been arrested in Kumasi for allegedly printing fake Electoral Commission (EC) observer accreditation cards.

Four others were also grabbed for wearing military uniforms posing as soldiers.

In the earlier case, the three men were said to have had in their possession the fake accreditation cards Bearing the names of Alhaji Sani Mohammed, Alhaji Abass, Mohammed Awal and Musah Osman, as supposed observers for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Head of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yusif Mohammed Tanko, who confirmed the arrest to journalists at Kumasi said, a fourth suspect was on the run.

He gave the names of those arrested as Stephen Gyan, 54, Bawuah Richard, 41, and   Amoah Gyan, 34, while the one on the run was named as Sly.

ASP Tanko said the suspects allegedly printed the cards from AC Gyan Printing Press at Adum.

In the other incident, the four civilians were seen wearing military uniforms at Obuasi and were arrested by military men and handed over to the police.

They have since been transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police headquarters in Kumasi.
