3 crash to death

Three persons died in a fatal accident on the evening of Boxing Day, when their motorcycle crashed into a stationary truck at Adjakaah, a surburb of Enchi, in the Aowin District of the Western Region.

The police identified the victims as Stephen Martey, alias Kofi, 32, Solomon Addo, alias Ngyan Ndaah, 19, and one David, 28, all residents of Desuano, and they had since been deposited at the Enchi Government Hospital awaiting post mortem.

David Boateng, 34, driver of the truck belonging to Adwumapa Buying Company, with the registration number GS 1330-11, reported the matter to the police and was detained to assist in investigations.

The Enchi District Police Commander, Superintendent Raymond Kofi Erzuah, who confirmed the accident, narrated that at about 7.04pm on Boxing Day, David Boateng of Yaakese, was driving a Hyundai Mighty truck belonging to Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company loaded with 70 bags of dried cocoa beans from Mortoso towards Adjakaah, near Enchi.

On reaching the outskirts of Adjakaah, he explained that the truck ran out of fuel and Boateng pulled up and parked offside his lane, but soon after, the unregistered Apsonic motorcycle from Enchi ridden by Martey with Addo and David on the pillion, crashed into the back of the stationary vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Adwumapa cocoa truck had been impounded, he said.
