3 companies support National Farmers’ Day

The Wienco Ghana Limited presented 50 bags of Aduahene rice, 2,400 safari hots, 1,500 mugs,500 T-shirt, all totalling GH¢30,000 and a cheque for GH¢10,000.

The Marketing Manager of Wienco, Mr. Dominic Duku said the Ghanaian farmer had been the backbone of the economy hence the need to support the government celebrate them.

“We are proved to be partners of the country’s agriculture sector and would ever be ready to contribute our quota to support farmers for the growth and development of the country”, he said.

The West African Technical Company Limited presented a cheque for GH¢12,000 while RMG Ghana Limited, an agro inputs company presented 10 cocoa Matabi knapsacks, 10 Matabi super agro 16 port,  20 cartons of landlord, 1,500 branded exercise books and 500 T-shirts, totalling GH¢20,000 and a cheque for GH¢10,000.

Mr. Kenneth Nii Addy, the Direct Sales Manager, said the company considers the celebration as a call to duty to be part of the historic moment that recognise the efforts of the country’s hard working farmers.

The Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture in charge of crops, Dr. Ahmed Yakubu Alhassan, commended the companies for the support, and urged other corporate organisations to support the celebration.

According to him, the celebrations which would be held throughout the country called for massive support towards motivating farmers to produce more food for the people.
