2nd Ghana Golf Awards Launched

The second Ghana Golf Awards has been launched in Accra.

The event seeks to reward distinguished golfers and sponsors in the year under review.

Scheduled for December 13 at the Unique Flora Gardens in Accra, the ceremony will host several dignitaries across the golf world with over 30 personalities expected to win awards.

The Award categories are Amateur Golfer of the Year (Male and Female), Most Improved Golfer of the Year (Male and Female), Most Promising Golfer (Male and Female), Junior Golfer of the Year (Male and Female) and Senior Golfer of the Year (Male and Female).

The rest are Golf Manager of the Year, Professional Golfer of the Year, Golf Club of the Year, Golf Personality of the Year and the prestigious Golfer of the Year.

Vice President of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA), Mike Aggrey hoped the awards would demystify the notion that the sport is preserve of the elite.

Mr. Aggrey stressed the need for Ghana to qualify for the next Olympics – Rio 2016 – and urged all stakeholders to get involved.

Launching the event, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Joe Kpenge stressed the need for the youth, especially girls, to engage in the sport.
