TWENTY-SEVEN children have been baptised at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Fritz Ramseyer Memorial Church, Bubuashie in Accra during Christmas day.

Made up of 13 boys and 14 girls, they were sprinkled with water to signify their acceptance into the Presbyterian fraternity.

Reverend John Nii Yartey Dickson, minister in charge of the church, who baptised the children urged parents to be good role models for their children.

He said parents should realise the need to avoid bad behaviours that directly or indirect affect the development of their children.

“Children are special gifts from God to mankind, therefore it is our core mandate to shape them holistically. There are so many street children and I wonder where their parents are,” he said.

Rev. Dickson said: “As parents we must reduce the unnecessary spending, such as clothing, funerals, parties and save money towards our wards’ future.”

He said parents should endeavour to guide their children to the Christian path to become good leaders of the church and the country.

This according to him, society, especially parents should endeavour to prevent their children from engaging in deviant behaviours such as drug addiction, prostitution, robbery, and alcoholism, and rather train them to become good citizens who would help develop the country.

Rev. Dickson further urged Christians to show love by taking care of the less-privileged in their communities.
