A 26-year -old man was shot and killed by unknown gunmen at Old Timers, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region during a robbery attack on a pastor and his family last Friday.

The deceased, Ebenezer Asare, a son of a church elder, who lived in the same house with the pastor and his family was reported to have raised an alarm, after seeing the robbers but was shot.

The body of the deceased had been conveyed to the Police Hospital in Accra for preservation and autopsy.

The robbers reportedly took a Toyota Corolla belonging to the pastor and his wife, their wedding rings, some unspecified amount of money, and lap top.

An Assembly Member of the Awutu Senya East area, Jones Kwarteng who confirmed this to the Ghanaian Times said the tragic incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m.

He said the pastor and his wife (name withheld) went to a church service and returned at about 10p.m.

“While they were getting ready to go to bed they heard a bang on their door. When the banging intensified the victims enquired from the people what they wanted and one of them is said to have responded that they were there to kill them,” he narrated.

He said Asare came out of his room and started shouting to raise the alarm that there were robbers in the house.

The Assemblyman said the suspected robbers, believed to be four in number, started firing shots indiscriminately and in the process killed Asare.

He said the robbers then broke into the pastor’s room, adding that the pastor and his wife who were lying prostrate pleaded with the robbers to spare their lives.
