26 Subpoenaed By Judgement Debts C’ssion

The Judgement Debts Commission resumes sitting today, after a week-long break as a result of the 2014/2015 Annual National Conference of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), which began on Monday, September 15.

About 26 people and institutions have been subpoenaed to provide evidence on various issues, bordering on compensation and judgement debt payments by the government from 1992 to date.

The dominating issue at stake relates to the beneficiaries of the GH¢138 million compensation package released by the government in 2008, for payment to people in the Volta River Basin Flooded Areas, Apaaso, Makango, Ahamandi, and Kete, Krachi among other communities, flooded during the construction of the Akosombo Dam in the 1960s.

Those appearing today are: Abena Ansong, Apaaso; Attorney General’s Department;   Ismael Wilson, Beposo; Keta District Assembly; Madam Vida Hlover, 31st December Movement, Abor; Mohammed Hijazi; Nana Amoako Ababio; Nana Ampong Adjei, Apaaso; Nana Kafra, Ahenkro.

The rest are: Nana Kanya, Bejamse; Nana Kwabena Akuamoah, Adjade; Nana Kwesi Poku, Adele; Nana Omani Kuminte, Banda Bonwesi; Nana Omani Kuminte, Grubi;      Nana Otupanin III (for Kwabena Oduro), Apaaso; the Headmaster of Abor Senior Secondary School, Abor.

Those appearing tomorrow, September 24, are: Alex Kofi Missah (for Kwadwo Mensah), Ahamandi; Ministry of Local Government; Nana Adusei (for Kwabena Asihene), Ahamandi; Nana Kwesi Osemakwe, Atafie; Regina Akua Animah (for Yaa Ayisibea), Ahamandi; Stephen Banfo (Atafie Development Fund), Atafie.

On Thursday, September 25, representatives of the Attorney General’s Department, Controller & Accountant General’s Department, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Roads & Highways will attend.
