Twenty-three suspected criminals, including three females, have been arrested in a swoop by the Tesano Divisonal Police Command in Accra yesterday.

The suspects who were between the ages of 17 and 38 years are currently in the custody of the police assisting in investigations.

Narcotics such as dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were found with some of the suspects.

The Divisional Commander, Superintendent Oduro Amaning led the operation which was carried out at Akweteiman, Abofo Railways, Achimota Charcoal station, and Dome Railways.

The Tesano District Police Commander, Superintendent Edward Tetteh told the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday that the operation was meant to clamp down on criminal activities in the area.

The Commander said the division on Tuesday dawn arrested the suspects from their hideouts, adding that they would be screened and those found culpable would be processed for court for prosecution.

“The narcotics would also be sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis,” he added.

Supt Tetteh said the exercise would be sustained to bring sanity and urged the public to volunteer information to the police to address the crime wave in the country.
