TWENTY playing cards clubs in the Greater Accra Region will converge at the forecourt of the Trade Fair Centre, La for the fourth edition of the Greater Accra regional playing cards competition from tomorrow.
The two-day event sponsored by Miksi will end on Sunday.
The ultimate winner will take home a cash amount of GH¢1,000.
The first and second runners-up will take home cash prizes of GH¢700 and GH¢500 respectively plus products from the sponsors.
Defending champions, Aasha Game Club will be hoping to repeat the feat chalked last year when they open their defense of the title against La based Wonders Club in the first game of the day.
Last year’s losing finalist, France 98 from La who are hoping to go a step further this year will begin their with a game against Tafo Jupiters.
Wantu Wazuri will come up against Oona La; Red Lions will lock horns with Obonu while Argentina plays 50 Boys with Camp 2 engaging Worst Scorpion.
Other interesting clashes will see Flying Eagles come up against Capacity, Britannica takes on Parliament, Oke La Nshwe will battle Cabo Royals with Camara Youth facing off with MPs in the last game of the preliminary stages.
In attendance will be the Municipal Chief Executive for LaDMA, Ms. Rita Odoley Sowah, the Deputy Director-General (Technical) at the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Saka Acquaye and the Greater Accra Regional Sports Development officer, Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jnr among other dignitries.
According to the CEO of Media 2 Concepts, organisers of the event, Mr. Steve Tawiah Bortier, alias DJ Lalo, this year’s edition, which is supported by Kasapreko and the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) would be bigger than the previous years.
