TWO Niger nationals Issifu Imaro, 31, and Abdul-Hayu Saadu, 21, were last Thursday sentenced to 10 years imprison-ment each by the Ho Circuit Court, for possessing Indian Hemp.
They pleaded guilty.
The court, presided over by Mr. Justice Patrick Baayeh, a High Court Judge sitting with additional responsibility, was told that on October 22, the accused were spotted by the police patrol team on board a taxi, GW 223-V, along the Asikuma-Peki highway.
According to the prosecution, the vehicle, which took off from Dzemeni, was heading towards Ho and when the Highway Patrol Team stopped and searched the vehicle, 26 compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, were found.
The driver gave the accused persons up to the police as the owners of the parcels and upon interrogation they admitted ownership.
