2 NPP polling station officers die in accident

Two polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Lower West Akyem District of the Eastern Region, have been confirmed dead following a road accident.

Kofi Yesu and Salifu Gonja died on the spot, while the vice constituency chairman, Joseph Ameyaw, sustained severe injuries after their vehicle collided head-on with a Hyundai van.

Ameyaw is said to be responding to treatment at the Asamankese Hospital.

According to a report on Koforidua-based Bryt Fm, the unfortunate incident occurred at Topease, near Asamankese, on Sunday night.

The executive had gone to mourn with the family of their late constituency Women’s Organiser and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, but were unfortunately involved in the accident.

The bodies of the dead have been deposited at the Asamankese Government Hospital morgue.
