2 Held For Robbing Woman

suspectsTwo people, who allegedly robbed a woman of her GH¢60 and other valuables have been arrested by the Greda Estate Police at Teshie, in Accra.

Peter Asare, 23, a motor repairer, and Robert Adikah, 21, scrap dealer, the suspects, according to the police, had been in a robbery syndicate for sometime now.

The Teshie District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Simon Kweku Agbodeka told The Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday that on February 6, at about 9:30am the two suspects who were on a motorbike with registration number M-13-GT-715, went to Mavis Addo, the complainant’s shop to buy some goods.

He said while Mavis was conducting Adikah round the shop, he snatched her bag containing GH¢60 and other valuables from her and took to his heels

DSP Agbodeka said while Adikah was about to get on to the motorbike, Mavis caught up with him and held him from behind screaming, thus drawing the attention of residents.

He said some residents assisted to arrest the two suspects, adding that but for the timely intervention of the police, they would have been lynched by an angry mob.

DSP Agbodeka said the two suspects are currently in the custody of the police assisting in investigations while the motorbike had been impounded. By Anita Nyarko
