2 Foreigners Arrested For Dealing In Fake Dollars

fake2Two foreigners have been arrested by the police for possessing a trunkful of fake 100 dollar bills at Mile 7, a suburb of Accra.

Mohamed Basim, 35, a Tunisian and Adekunle Morufden, 52, a Nigerian, were said to have hidden the fake dollars in a silver coated trunk in a Toyota Corolla,with registration number GR 5225-13 which they intended to trade for GH¢300 million.

Briefing The Ghanaian Times, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, Commissioner of Police (COP) Prosper Agblor, said on September 23, at about 3 p.m., based on intelligence, the Special Weapon and Tactics Team from the Police Headquarters, led by the National Command, undertook a special operation at Mile 7 and intercepted a Toyota Corolla.

fakeHe said a search on the vehicle, revealed a silver-coated trunk hidden in the booth in which were fake dollars in 100 bills.

He said the suspects attempted bribing the police with $30,000 which they refused and arrested them.

COP Ablor said upon interrogation, Morufden confessed that they were to trade the fake dollars for GH¢300 million.
