Two companies have presented cash and equipment to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in support of this year’s National Farmers Day.
Tema Oil Refinery and Ganorma Agro-Chemicals Limited (GACL), donated GHc10,000 and 300 knapsack spraying machines, respectively.
The spraying machines, according to Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Sulemana, Chief Executive, GACL, were in support of the National farmers day as well as the Northern and Upper East regional farmers day.
He observed that despite challenges, farmers in the country had produced food stuff for domestic consumption, and contributed to the growth of the economy, adding that the company would continue to support farmers during future celebrations.
Deputy Minister of MoFA, Dr. Ahmed Alhassan Yakubu, expressed appreciation to the companies for the gesture, and said this would encourage people to go into farming.
He appealed to individuals and institutions to donate towards the farmers day.
