Two people, who allegedly stole a car worth GH¢100,000.00 at Lashibi in Accra, have been arrested by the police.

Hans Owusu, 35, also known as Cobby, and Kofi Nkansah, 39, who according to the police were on the wanted list, were in police custody assisting in investigations.

One other accomplice, Dianna Boakye, was on the run, and has been sought by the police.

The Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) George Alex Mensah, confirmed the arrest to the Ghanaian Times in Accra, yesterday.

He said on July 4, Mohammmed Salifu reported to the police at the Nungua that a woman and a man, who came to his garage at Lashibi, near Nungua, and proposed to purchase his black Chevrolet Malibu saloon car 2016 model, stole the vehicle.

He said in the process of the transaction, the suspects took the car dealers to a bank at Lashibi to pay GH¢100,000.00 being the cost of the car to them with a cheque.

DCOP Mensah said when the car dealers were at the bank to cash the cheque it was later revealed it was fake.

He said Bonsu and Nkansah escaped with the vehicle, but they were arrested two days later at Ofankor, near Amasaman, when they attempted selling the car to another buyer.

DCOP Mensah urged people who have fallen victim to such activities to report to the police.
