2 arrested for allegedly killing Chinese

Two men are in the grips of the police for the alleged murder of Ren Guang Fa, 50, a Chinese, at Sakumono, a suburb of Accra.

Ekow Korsah, 23, foreman, and Michael Mensah, alias Munkor, 22, both co-workers of the deceased, allegedly robbed and murdered him.

The deceased was the engineer of Ruser Investment, a Chinese engineering company, in Accra.

Briefing the Ghanaian Times, the Baatsonaa Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Felix Kwasi Cosmos, said on April 12, 2017, at about 8:30pm, the deceased closed from work and went to his residence at Sakumono behind C&J Hospital, Community 16.

He said Fa was found dead in a pool of blood the following day.

Chief Superintendent Cosmos said preliminary investigations revealed deep cut on the left wrist and bruises on both right and left shoulders of the deceased.

According to him, on April 16, Korsah was arrested in connection with the murder.

Chief Sup Cosmos said a search was carried out in Korsah’s room at Lashibi and a Huawei P.8 smart phone, which belonged to the deceased, was found, and he admitted to the crime.

He said Korsah mentioned Mensah as his accomplice, and he was arrested at his hideout at Teshie. During interrogation, Mensah also admitted the offence.

Chief Sup Cosmos said the suspects led the police to their hometown, Ekumfi Akra in the Central Region to retrieve a Lenovo desktop computer and a bag that contained the personal belongings of the deceased.

He said investigations established that Korsah and Mensah went to the residence of the deceased under the pretext of going to fetch water from his reservoir during the late hours of the day of the incident.

Chief Sup Cosmos said the deceased opened the door because he noticed they were his co-workers only to be beaten and stabbed till he became unconscious and died.

He said Korsah and Mensah stole the said items and bolted.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
