Eleven people were killed when a passenger bus ran into an articulated truck at Beposo, near Jema, in the Kintampo South District of the Brong-Ahafo Region, in the late hours of Tuesday.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abornor Atalata, Kintampo District Police Commander, told The Ghanaian Times on phone that nine people died on the spot.

He said, two others died later on Wednesday, one on the way to the Duayaw-Nkwanta Hospital, and the other at the Jema Hospital.

The rest are in critical condition at the Holy Family Hospital at Techiman.

The dead includes the driver, Owusu Ebenezer, 37, who was in-charge of the Ssanyong bus with registration number, AS 5986-12, which ran into the Daf articulated truck, with registration number, GT 6849-13. The driver of the truck, Yussif Moro, 25, has been arrested and placed in police custody.
