Tsito Awudome citizens build toilet for community

A group of Tsito Awudome citizens have funded a GH¢75, 000 10-unit water closet toilet for the community.

The initiative forms part of efforts to build three of such toilets to fight open defecation and improve on sanitation in the town.

Inaugurating the facility on Thursday in Tsito Awudome in the Ho West District, Tsyofo Kumi, a representative from the Tsito Traditional Council said after the call from the Ho West District Assembly for every household to have toilets, it became evident that some people could not construct toilets in their homes, hence the idea for such a public facility.

According to him, some people continue to ease themselves in the open, and the facility would help minimize that practice, and commended the communal spirit of the people, and those who contributed to finance the project.

Mr Kumi pledged stronger collaboration from the traditional leaders to support in bringing development to the various clans in the town, assuring that they would deepen their engagement with the youth to get them involved in its development agenda for the area.

Mr Samuel Ntow, Assemblyman for Dzigbe Electoral Area, urged the Assembly to enforce its sanitation bye-laws in the district and those found culpable of flouting the bye-laws should be spot-fined and the proceeds used for the development of the area.
