There is nothing joyful, soothing, and appealing to the eyes and has the potential to ease stress than to see students display Ghana’s rich culture.
Dubbed “Ghana Day,” students of St Maurice Roman Catholic A & B Junior High School, La, took to the stage the opportunity to portray their cultural heritage.
The programme which was organised in the school premises was to officially draw the curtains down on Ghana’s 62 Independence Day celebration.
The students displayed dresses of Ghana’s former ten regions, performed cultural dances, gave an account of the economic, natural endowments, tourism potentials, and socio-cultural activities in the respective regions.
Mrs Evelyn Ampomah-Nkansah Mainoo, the Headmistress of the school, in an interview with The Spectator, said the day was to provide the students an opportunity to be identified with their culture, and to help the students generate interest in them.
She said the students proudly displayed their culture, an indication that they would uphold their cultural heritage.
Mrs Mainoo said organising such programmes regularly would prevent the youth from following foreign cultures at the expense of theirs.
