The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu, on Thursday joined the Chief of the Fise community in Accra, Alhaji Bukari Hamidu Kabore, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his enskinment.
The colourful durbar was also attended by chiefs, opinion leaders, Imams and Islamic scholars in the country.
Sheik Sharubutu commended Chief Kabore for the support and recognition he has given the Muslim community in the country.
The Chief Imam also lauded Alhaji Kabore for his contribution to the development of the country, especially for the construction of a three-storey mosque at Fise, a palace for Zongo Chiefs in Ga West and Ga North and the Fise Arabic School.
Sheikh Sharubutu admonished Muslims to be true followers of Allah by ensuring peaceful co-existence.
Chief Kabore expressed gratitude to Allah for how far He had brought him, and promised to continue to contribute to national development.
He advised the youth against social vices adding “with discipline, patience and determination, one can become successful, so I urge you to be law abiding and serious. You are our future leaders so do not disappoint us, give us the hope that we will have a better tomorrow.”
Alhaji Kabore, who is also the Chairman for the Ga West and North Council of Zongo Chiefs, praised the people of Fise for supporting.
“I can confidently say that over the past 10 years, there has never been a day that I have been called to bail someone from this community from any police station,” he said.
Alhaji Kabore advised chiefs to work and earn a living instead, saying despite his age and status, he woke up at dawn everyday to take care of his businesses.
He pledged to promote education in the Zongo communities in the country since they are mostly deprived.
Alhaji Kabore called on corporate bodies and individuals to support the vulnerable and needy because government could not carry out such responsibility alone.
Teachers, medical practitioners and workers of Alhaji Kabore were awarded during the ceremony for contributing to the development of Fise community.
In an interview with the Ghanaian Times on the sidelines of the ceremony, Ms Ramatu Abdulai, a member of the Fise community, said since Alhaji Kabore came to reside in Fise, the area has not been the same again.
She said apart from the various developmental projects undertaken by the chief, he supported the education of needy individuals, by paying their fees up to the university level.
