Botsyo Nkegbe presents medal to GOC


Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe, one of Ghana’s experienced wheelchair athletes, who won a gold medal in the T54 100 meters race, at the recent Desert Challenge in the United States of America (USA), has presented the medal to the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

Nkegbe, who clocked 14:22secs in the 100 meters race, said after achieving the great feat that it was wise to present his medal to the GOC and ask for more prayers and blessings to make his dream of winning an Olympic gold medal next year a reality.

In addition to the medal, Nkegbe has qualified to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, after making 14:22, exceeding the required time of 14:70.

Nkegbe had also broken his personal best 14:62 seconds and had qualified for World Athletics Championships in Qatar, later in the year.

Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the GOC congratulated Botsyo Nkegbe for his exploits and urged him to train harder to bring more laurels to Ghana. –GNA
