Appointees found culpable in alleged corruption will not be shielded–Herbert Krapa

Herbert Krapa, the government spokesperson on governance and legal affairs, has assured the citizenry that the president will not shield appointees found culpable in alleged corruption.

He cited an example when allegations were made against the two deputy chief of staff, Samuel Abu Jinapor and Francis Asenso-Boakye, the president asked the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate the matter but people who made the allegations, had no evidence to support claims.

Mr Krapa insisted that the government had no difficulty releasing investigative reports conducted on appointees accused of corruption because when an incident of corruption was reported, the president instructed the appropriate investigative bodies to commence work.

“The president has made it clear and emphasised that there has not been a single instance since he became president in January 2017, that an allegation of corruption has been leveled against appointees of his which has not been forwarded to the appropriate authority.

“When the appropriate authority concludes its investigation, it is not the president who exonerates the accused persons, it is the findings of the investigation reports which are made available to the president and he will bring out the findings of the agencies,” Mr Krapa stressed and acknowledged the citizenry demand the whereabouts of such reports.

“Government should be able to make the reports public to the citizenry since it is good for such appointees to look at the reports and have nothing to do with allegations, I don’t think there is any difficulty on the part of the government making the report available to the citizenry because they should understand that some of the reports have to be used as basis for prosecutions.

“For instance, the National Youth Authority, the president will look at the prima facie evidence before him, even before investigation is conducted the appointees should step aside, investigations conducted and have their appointments terminated,” Mr Krapa assured, however, feel short of indicating whether investigations had commenced into the matter. -3news.com
