Ninety investigators from seven security agencies have undergone capacity building to equip them with skills and knowledge in crime investigations.
The eight weeks training course brought participants across the country from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Military Police, Custom Divsion of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Economic and Organised Crime Office, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Immigration Service and Narcotics Control Board.
It was sponsored by the National Crime Agency and the British government.
The Director-General of CID, Commisisoner of Police (COP) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, in a speech read on her behalf by her deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) George Tweneboah said the course would equip the participants with knowledge and skills.
She said the current security environment with it associated changing crimes trends puts a greater responsibility on investigators to be a step ahead of criminals.
COP Addo-Danquah assured the personnel of the Police Administration continuous support to help in training and retooling.
She entreated the participants to share the knowledge acquired and desist from armed chair investigations.
The Director-General urged the participants from the security agencies to collaborate to ensure that crime was reduced in the country.
The Commanding Officer of the Detective Training School, Superintendent of Police (Supt) Grace Ansah-Akrofi in her remarks said the participants were taken through subjects such as intelligence gathering, crime scene management, criminal procedure, search and techniques, procedure, finger prints, building and handling dockets.
She urged the participants to apply what they have been taught to help them in their career.
The Commandant commended the resource persons for their support and dedication in educating the participants.
Certificates were presented to the participants.
