Youth tasked to be concerned about politics

Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, the Chairman of the National Peace Council of Ghana, has tasked the youth to be concerned with issues of politics in the country.

He expressed worry over the youth’s apathy towards issues of the nation’s political interest and encouraged them to get involved and reminded them of the inevitable repercussion the decisions being made today would have on their future.

Most Rev. Asante made the call when he spoke on the topic: ‘The Role of the Young Person in the Journey towards the Future’ at the annual Young People’s Week celebration of the Methodist Church-Ghana in Kumasi.

He, however, advised the youth to forgo the current political system which incited violence, brought division and had disrupted the innate love and bond the citizenry shared, and urged them to unionise and advocate political correctness by engaging in political issues that promoted love, tolerance, unity, national cohesion and peace.

Most Rev. Asante articulated the need for the youth to invest their strength and intellect in the fight against politics of insult and politics that attack personalities, and indicated that “we must be able to rise up and boldly declare that regardless of our political choices and views, we are still one people with one nation and ought to live together in peace, unity and harmony, for true politics is to live and let others live.

“Young people must be critical in their thinking and not follow the masses, and also young people at large must be involved in the country’s seemly unending battle against sanitation, corruptible practices and other social vices that tend to derail the focus on nation building,” he cautioned. –3news.com
