The battle for 2020 VGMA supremacy begins

The jostling for who is who in the Ghana music industry has begun as nominations for this year’s  Vodafone Ghana Music awards (VGMA) has been opened.

Various artistes who believe they deserve laurels for their exploits in the music scene last year would be filing their nomination to make a case for themselves.

They would need the endorsement of their fun base through voting and attestation from the awards board and academy to get through the race.

2019 was an eventful year in the industry with our songbirds, from new artistes to well grounded ones, dropping hits after hits that constantly kept music lovers in the dance mood.

The battle for supremacy on diverse music charts was fierce as songs toppled each other every week-only a few were able to sustain the hype.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Times Weekend in Accra on Wednesday, the Head of Public Event of Charter House, Mr Rober klah stated that his outfit has opened nominations for the 2020 edition of the awards.

He explained that all musical works produced and released from January 1 to December 31, 2019 are expected to be presented to the awards academy for consideration.

This Mr Klah noted would give artistes opportunity to be nominated and awarded for their hard work, hence urged them to file their nominations before the deadline.

“Completed hand filled forms with copies of CDs, videos and promotional pictures should all be submitted to the office not later than January 31,” he added.

Mr Klah announced that his outfit would communicate any amendments to the scheme once the board is constituted.

The awards festival seeks to also recognise producers, record labels and other industry professionals who have kept the industry vibrant.
