PA police station has been commissioned at Tema Community 25 in the Kpone Katamanso constituency in the Greater Accra Region in a bid to beef up security within the area.
The project which is “a self-help initiative by residents of Tema Community 25, would serve as the Tema Community 25 district police headquarters serving residents and the business community within the area.
It has a Charge Office, Station Officer’s office, Armoury, Exhibit room, washroom, female cell, juvenile and male cell all fitted with ensuite washroom, interrogation rooms, CID Office, Conference room, Commander’s washroom, Control office for CCTV and Drone operation, Commander Office and charge office with the offices fitted with air conditioners.
The event brought together a high hierarchy of the Ghana Police service led by the Inspector General of Police, Mr David Asante-Apeatu.
Commissioning the edifice, the Inspector General of Police, Mr David Asante-Apeatu informed that the Ghana Police Administration as part of its transformational agenda requires the support of the general public as such what was being witnessed was in line with the police expectation of a responsible and transparent partnership from the public.
He commended the residents for coming together to fund the project and appealed for continuous support in terms of logistics observing that development cannot take place in an insecure environment.
MrAsante-Apeatu urged the Police officers in the area to offer best of services for residents to have confidence and also be reminded of the strong maintenance culture of the service to maintain the edifice.
The chairman of the Community 25 Residents Association, Mr Bagnaba Vangogh in his address disclosed the project is “a self-help initiative,” as a topmost priority of residents to beef up security in the area and to augment government’s vision of protecting the entire citizenry.
He said although the project faced budgetary constraints the determination and commitment of residents including the support of the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) and the Kpone Katamanso Municipality brought the project to fruition.
