Hollywood stars arrives in Ghana

Hollywood stars, Paquita Hughes, Chloe and Nylah Mondesir and powerhouse Gail Bean were last Saturday treated to traditional celebrity reception at the Kotoka International Airport at the beginning of their tour of the country.

They are in the country with a specific mission to help build Ghana’s entertainment industry to global standards.

“It is a great surprise to see the rate of development and beauty in Africa, compared to what we hear and see on international media outlets. We are so happy to receive the genuine hospitality of the Ghanaian people”, she stated.

According to Paquita Hughes, producing a film in Ghana, starring major Hollywood brands like Chloe, Gail and Nylah with the majority of the characters coming from Ghana and other African countries is the major reason they were here.

She said she and her team instigated women empowerment programmes with their Ghanaian indigenous partner Ananse Film Lab, Tanzania Film Lab(Tanzania) and Two Point Five Media Ltd  (Kenya) to bridge the gap between women directors in movies and entertainment.

This lab was part of the “Teach. Coach. Mentor.” education series founded in California.

Producing a film in Ghana, starring major Hollywood brands like Chloe, Gail and Nylah with the majority of the characters coming from Ghana and other African countries is the major reason we are here, Paquita told journalists at the airport.

The Ananse Film Festival is another project that has been birthed to uplift filmmakers and films that have a special story that must be heard. Ananse Film Festival will be held in Ghana November 2020.

As part of their vision to uplift the Ghanaian, African entertainment industry they have also elaborated on another All African Film Festival founded by California Producer and international entrepreneur, Mr George Ohan.

Paquita Hughes, Chloe and Gail Bean are major advocates for Africa Premier Film Festival (APFF) venture. Ghanaian musician, facilitator and Creative Writer Eben Yelson Amanyoh is holding the office of Director of Outreach and Communications, and Ronnie Atto Paintsil as the Director of Festival.

Chloe Mondesir, U.S. military Veteran and Hollywood talent, also encourages all African filmmakers to submit their indigenous African related stories to the largest platform in the world for African content, The African Film Festival.

“We want to see films in the USA that are crafted to tell our African stories. Submit your films for The African Film Festival that will be held in Dallas, Texas in June 2, to June 6, 2020”, Mondesir added.
